Description *This position can be located in our Bellevue, Washington or Portland, Oregon offices.* Responsible for assisting the Area Controller with all accounting functions for HDR Engineering Inc.’s Northwest Departments. Performs specialized accounting functions and establishes internal controls for procedures and practices in accordance with company policies, accounting procedures, and contractual obligations. Creates specialized financial reports unique to management needs. Works directly with the Area Controller, Regional Controller, Senior Operations Manager, Department and Section Managers to manage and coordinate department and project accounting systems to monitor department general ledger accounts, project budgets, invoicing, payables, receivables and other related financial information. Audits compliance with contractual requirements, which may include invoicing and reporting format, net fee projections and financial quality control. Reviews and analyzes financial statements. Helps prepare and review annual departmental budgets. Advises management on financial performance of departments and projects. Supports the activities of department accountants for the collection of employee time and expense reports. Supports the activities of department accountants and project controllers specific to project accounting and contractual obligations. Makes staffing recommendations to management. May select and/or deal directly with vendors related to department operations. On a select basis, communicates and corresponds directly with clients with respect to invoicing, receivables and project reporting. Requirements * Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required.
* MBA or CMA preferred.
* Minimum 5 years accounting and contracts experience, preferably in A/E industry; Federal contracting experience highly desirable.
* Advanced computers, Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project.
* Self-motivated, well-organized, detail oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
