Position Description
This position is part of the Expedia Agency Revenue Accounting and Reporting team. The Team is responsible for the accounting, revenue assurance, analysis and reporting of Expedia’s worldwide revenue streams arising from (1) agency air, car, cruise and tour activities, (2) advertising activities, (3) supplier contract accounting, (4) GDS revenue streams.
Responsibilities:
Timely and accurate recording of agency revenues in accordance with GAAP:
• Operationalize the accounting for new products, points of sale and contracts
• Research and resolve technical accounting issues surrounding revenue recognition
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency
• Prepare month-end journal entries and analyses
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Identify trends or issues that require management’s attention
• Produce and present periodic and ad hoc reports to the senior management & business owners
Create & Support Access Databases/Tools:
• Create Access database applications using queries, forms/UI and macros
• Maintain/troubleshoot existing Access database tools
• Execute and quality check existing enterprise database queries
Revenue Assurance and Collections:
• Account for and monitor collection/payment of non-standard contractual revenue streams.
• Reconciliation of supplier/clearinghouse data to internal data and resolution of differences
Special projects as assigned:
• Provide accounting input to new projects & technology
• Create new tools/databases to compress month-end close
• Support Sarbanes Oxley initiatives
• Quarterly reporting and audit schedules
Qualifications:
• Must have strong Access application development skills
• Must have BS degree in Accounting
• Must have 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Passed or currently sitting for CPA exam (preferred)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to build strong working relationships; “customer” focus
