| KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: |
- Knowledge of health care techniques and principles. Knowledge of communicable diseases and ability to report such diseases to supervisor.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with students on IEPs (Individual Education Plans).
- Knowledge of basic record keeping, including alpha-numeric filing.
- Skills in assessing the physical and emotional needs of students. Skills in written and oral communications. Skills in completing assigned tasks in a timely manner. Skills in handling confidential matters.
- Skills in learning and interpreting assignments, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Skills in encouraging and tutoring students. Skills in keeping accurate and complete records.
- Ability to be trained to make appropriate decisions in emergency situations, including recognizing situations that exceed incumbent's training and expertise, thus necessitating contacting the appropriate Registered Nurse. Ability to administer medication, First Aid and CPR to students.
- Ability to use a computer database.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of staff, students and the public in a multi-cultural environment and work as a member of a team.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

| DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
- Assist students, staff and teachers with health-related issues, including administering oral medications. Provide first aid as needed. Answer phones and operate office equipment.
- Maintain compliant and complete records of activities in the Health Room, including keeping accurate counts of student medications in the building.
- May assist visitors, collect and distribute materials, inventory, and order and process materials.
- May assist students with special needs, skills improvement, behavior techniques, and other activities; escort students to and from locations.
- Team with other Health Room Assistants and Registered Nurses to assure coordinated and cohesive services. Use computers and related technologies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

| EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: |
- High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
- Certification in CPR and first aid.
- Some positions may require a valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of mobility.

The job duties/responsibilities of this position have been identified as High Risk (reasonably anticipated to have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens). Employees in this position are required to complete annual Bloodborne Pathogen (HIV/Hepatitis B) renewal training and are eligible to receive Hepatitis B immunizations paid for by Everett Public Schools.
