This Research Scientist/Engineer Assistant position in the Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy & Infectious Disease will perform structural genomics studies. The individual will be responsible for developing and performing enzymatic assays to aid in structure based drug design. Candidate should be familiar with basic molecular biology techniques such as DNA isolation/manipulation, PCR, real time PCR, thermal melts, sequencing, electrophoresis etc. Should possess the ability to prepare reagents, manage data and keep a detailed notebook. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field AND at least three months and as much as one year relevant laboratory experience. Additional Requirements: Experience with High Throughput methods including 96-well format and multi-channel pipettes. Desired: Willing to acquire technical expertise and knowledge-knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures. Experience with biochemical enzyme assay development with the ability to troubleshoot a protocol. Familiar with protein expression and purification techniques.
