Project Description: Work on project teams to analyze, document and propose solutions for large and/or complex business areas and to develop business and functional requirements for IT software application development projects.
Suitable candidates will have a proven track record in software application development projects and have a wide breadth of IT knowledge and experience. Documented IT experience should include, (but is not limited to), experience in all phases of the standard IT Software Development Lifecycle waterfall; experience in different IT environments, (such as Enterprise, Small Business, and Government; as well as LANs, Mainframes and Telco). Knowledge of multiple Operating systems and development languages and platforms is a plus. Experience leading business analysis for IT projects in an Enterprise and/or Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) is a definite plus.
Scope of Work:
This position serves as an IT Business Analyst within Client with specialized knowledge, experience and expertise in developing software application projects in a fluid and dynamic environment.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Business analysis methodologies for
translating business process requirements into functional specifications.
• System development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies including building business cases, scoping of project, design specifications, testing, and system implementation services.
• Unified Modeling Language (UML), specifically developing Use Cases.
• System requirements specification development and documentation.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
Specific duties include:
• As a member of an IT project team, obtain an understanding of key business needs and work directly with end users to align those needs within the Client IT enterprise architecture.
• Elicit, understand, and document complex business processes and translate them into detailed requirements and functional specifications.
•
Manage the business requirements process throughout the SDLC.
• Interact and consult with senior and midlevel managers of Client business units and legislative staff. Excellent communication skills will be essential for communicating various system issues and meeting the customer’s expectations.
• Organize and
lead workshop/interview meetings with business/application owners and end users
• Provide weekly reports to the project manager showing progress against outstanding milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies.
Documentation of work to include:
• Requirements Definition Document
• UML documentation including; Use Cases, Storyboarding, and Wireframes
• Project Charters
• Traceability Matrices
• Project Work plans, schedules, and budgets
• Other project related documentation as required by the IT Project Office Manager
Mandatory Knowledge
Minimum
15 years experience in Information Technology
Minimum of 10 years experience as a Business Analyst/Functional Analyst specific to large-scale software application development or implementation projects
Minimum 7 years experience in gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements.
Minimum of 7 years experience developing system design documentation including functional specifications
Minimum 5 years experience managing software development lifecycle projects
Minimum 5 years experience in managing multiple IT projects concurrently.
Minimum of 5 years experience creating UML documentation including Use Case diagrams and wireframes.
Certified PgMP or PMP
Or
Minimum
of 6 years of documented continuous business analysis experience in IT project work
Work Experience must include projects pertaining to:
RFP, RFQ and/or RFI creation and/or management
Enterprise application implementation
.NET application development
N-tier application implementation
