CFO and VP of Administration
Division: Administration
Reports to: President/CEO
Status: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
Purpose: Direct Accounting, Production Business, Facilities, IT, HR, and Legal Affairs to maximize opportunities and minimize risk to reach more people, build a strong organization and make a positive impact on the community
QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
1. BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred
2. Ten (10) years of accounting experience preferred. Preferably three (3) years of which are in a non-profit environment
3. Five (5) years’ CFO or executive leadership with multi-departmental oversight required
4. Experience working with and/or serving as an Officer of a Board
5. Ability to travel to Canada and throughout the U.S. as necessary
6. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), US Government grant and accounting requirements, Business Law, Information Technology, Facilities systems and issues, and Human Resources policies and practices required
7. Proven business success leading business planning, modeling, development, initiatives, and partnerships
8. Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives at an organizational level
9. Media and fundraising experience desirable
10. Work independently and collaboratively to accomplish responsibilities, goals and projects

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Lead
1. Define and accomplish the station’s strategic and operational goals as Executive Leadership
2. Develop and maintain station policies and procedures
3. Represent KCTS 9 in the community, to PBS, and to CPB
4. Develop mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships
5. Act on behalf of President and CEO
II. Direct
1. Supervise accounting, auditing, reporting, budget development and oversight, taxes and treasury, banking, investment and risk management, and payroll
2. Provide financial analysis and consultation to inform and support decision-making
3. Assure the functionality, reliability, and security of computer systems, applications, and data
4. Assure the consistent maintenance of a safe, professional, and productive work environment
5. Assure KCTS 9 has the talent, performance management, employee benefits and compensation to meet the organization’s goals
6. Minimize legal risk associated with KCTS 9 corporate governance and operations
7. Maximize return on KCTS 9 investments in business opportunities
III. Manage
1. Participate in the Employee and Labor Relations and Canadian Operations Standing Committees
2. Develop and manage capital and operational budgets
3. Develop and implement station policies and procedures
4. Promote cross-functional communication and collaborative work processes
5. Advise management and staff regarding financial policy and accounting procedures
6. Advise management and staff regarding laws, regulations, and guidelines which affect financial operations
7. Compliance:
• File required administrative, financial, regulatory, funding source, and tax reports with city, state, federal and international agencies
• Assure compliance with applicable FCC rules and regulations, labor and employment laws and regulations, CPI and other credit protection regulations
• Meet requirements of the station’s leases, subleases, and vendor agreements
• Maintain appropriate levels of property and liability insurance
8. Staff the KCTS Television Board Finance and Audit
9. Manage special projects assigned by President and CEO
