The newly created Director, Care Facilitation Strategic Development is a key leadership role accountable for leading the planning and execution efforts for strategic initiatives and new product and program development in Care Facilitation. These comprehensive products and programs provide consumers with tools and services to effectively manage their health-care costs, improve the member experience, and contribute to Premera’s mission to provide peace of mind for our members. This position reports to the SVP and Chief Medical Officer (SVP/CMO) and serves as the primary contact on strategic initiatives and communications with other functional areas in the SVP/CMO’s absence. This position will have a significant impact on the operational effectiveness of Care Facilitation’s programs.
Care Facilitation includes: Care Management; Medical Services, Consulting and Quality; Pharmacy; and Strategy and Business Development.
Responsibilities:
1. Consults and works with senior management to identify key business issues, outline strategic alternatives and recommend cost effective solutions.
2. Collaborates with company-wide executive leadership in the development and merging of business and clinical concepts into strategic plans for new products and services.
3. Drives planning efforts of new product development, develops approaches to measure and monitor performance, and manages projects which support the division’s business objectives.
3. Leads work efforts with senior management to provide oversight and ensure successful implementation and enhancements of new products and programs while driving a seamless integration of programs across Care Facilitation departments.
4. Ensures that the products and deliverable of large enterprise projects and programs are integrated with, and completed on a schedule supportive of, corporate strategic objectives.
5. Leads the vendor management and contracting functions within Care Facilitation to ensure vendor reporting and data management is timely and accurate, that on-boarding is seamless and that all contracts are cost effective.
6. Provides oversight and direction to departmental managers and a team of project managers.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience.
2. Eight years management.
3. Experience participating with senior management and cross-functional teams to establish strategic plans and objectives.
4. Proven ability to build, develop and lead teams in direct or matrix role
5. Demonstrated effective skills in problem-solving, decision-making and change management including the ability to effectively influence and implement change at all levels of the organization.
6. Strong analytical, written and verbal communications, and presentation skills.
7. Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. Advanced degree in appropriate and related field of study.
2. Experience in healthcare, insurance and/or health related business.
2. Solid background and/or understanding of healthcare trends and technologies.
