Tax Technology Program Manager - Global Financial Systems
Tax Technology Senior Program Manager –
Job Description
Have you considered what it takes to accurately capture, process, and report on the huge volume of financial transactions that are generated each day as millions of our customers make purchases, thousands of suppliers and partners get paid, as inventory moves, as vendors are paid, and as taxes are collected in hundreds of jurisdictions worldwide? Then have we got the opportunity for you. Help lead the transformation of our internal tax systems to provide industry leading capabilities to enable proactive and more complex tax planning, rapidly respond to internal and external change, and continue, improve reporting, and maintain control.
We are looking for an outstanding and visionary senior program manager to participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle, from architecture through deployment and support the next generation of our systems that support Amazon.com's multi-billion dollar business with dramatically increased functionality, performance, scalability, and flexibility. Along the way you'll gain and leverage a unique appreciation of how Amazon.com works; from the numerous software systems that comprise the website's back-end to the details of our business model and relationships with an ever- growing network of third-party merchants.
In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering complex solutions for internal and external clients, collecting product and business requirements, writing functional specifications, driving the development schedule from design to release, making appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, and clearly communicating goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and client project teams. The position requires working closely with software development teams in ordering, global payments, and merchant services, as well as external clients, on product development and business requirements.
Additionally, this Senior PM will be responsible for managing a number of programs involving multiple departments and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include large-scale projects and initiatives that extend and enhance the Amazon.com financial transaction processing, reporting, and analysis to support requirements for the entire Amazon organization and merchants who utilize the platform, including the scaling and capacity planning, and delivering on their near- and long-term initiatives.
The Program Manager will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints, and encourage risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. This individual will tackle configuration and debugging tasks through issue isolation and deductive reasoning, understand service interdependencies, drive towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems, mentor junior program managers, and build effective teams.
