Purpose Seattle University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Law, effective July 1, 2010.

Seattle University School of Law is seeking a Dean who will build on our strong foundation of achievement - a record that has been recognized in the rise in our national rankings in recent years. The largest and most diverse law school in the Pacific Northwest, we are committed to educating outstanding lawyers who are leaders for a just and humane world.

Established in 1972, Seattle University School of Law is a vital part of Seattle University's student-centered educational mission. The University's Jesuit Catholic heritage drives its commitment to the importance of both teaching and scholarship, its focus on educating the whole person, and its emphasis on lifelong learning. Our 55-member faculty is committed to academic excellence, multidisciplinary scholarship, and providing our students with an ambitious educational program that prepares them for a lifetime of leadership in the law. The School of Law conducts a full-time and part-time program of legal education, with a student-faculty ratio of 1:13.5. The School of Law has a strong and diverse student body, consisting of 830 full-time and 180 part-time students, approximately one third of whom are persons of color. The School of Law is housed in a beautiful, state-of-the-art building on the Seattle University campus, adjacent to downtown Seattle, the Pacific Northwest's largest, most vibrant city.

Minimum Qualifications JD required. Candidates must possess a distinguished record of scholarly achievement and experience in legal education commensurate with appointment as a tenured full professor of law.

Candidates should also show evidence of strong leadership, fund-raising, collaborative, interpersonal, and administrative skills.

All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision, and values.

This position requires a criminal history background check.
