Job Description:

                        Teacher for Alternative Educational Placements

Applicants should have knowledge and experience in working with student who
struggle to connect to school, lack a desire to learn, have difficulty following school policies and have demonstrated aggressive behaviors.
     Work with teachers from the student’s home school to help students succeed in completing academic assignments.
     Plan and prepare individual student’s curriculum and learning activities.
     Lead individual academic lessons and activities for students at the district’s central offices and community agencies.
     Maintain a written record of services provided for students and their academic work completion.
     Coordinate with staff from the student’s home school in the implementation and monitoring of a variety of interventions outlined in a student’s support plan and/or IEP.
     Assist district schools in the development, implementation and monitoring of a variety of behavioral intervention strategies for individual students.
     Provide individual counseling when identified and determined as necessary and appropriate according to a student’s support plan and/or IEP.
     Communicate with families about students’ progress on learning objectives and provide parents with methods of supporting those goals at home.
     Title I duties will include designing & providing specialized curriculum and individualized instruction for students who are in temporary placement at Haven
House. Time and Effort requirements must be completed monthly.

Other Job Functions:
     • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Job Requirements - Qualifications:
     • Experience Required: Prior job related experience.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
           Skills to communicate both orally and in written form in appropriate secondary language, motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate
performance.
           Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies.
           Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, maintain records, perform    various specialized task, establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedules and deadlines.
         Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity.

  Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Teaching
  Credential for appropriate level of instruction and specialty area, Criminal
  Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
