Job Description:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:    This is a generic, continuous posting to receive applications in order to create a pool of applicants to interview as vacancies occur during the 2009-2010 school year. This posting will remain open for one year.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
  • Knowledge of techniques to help individuals who are disabled by mental, physical, developmental, or emotional conditions so that they can develop, recover or maintain daily living, working and/or learning skills.
  • Knowledge of techniques to help restore function, improves mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of children suffering from injuries or disease.
  • Knowledge of community support resources and family service agencies.
  • Knowledge of operation of pertinent equipment, including a computer.
  • Skill in the use of proper grammar and English, both oral and written, as well as the usage of correct spelling.
  • Skill in keyboarding, data entry and word processing.
  • Ability to plan, organize and conduct occupational/physical therapy activities for students to facilitate students' development and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to set goals and objectives when working with students.
  • Ability to maintain clear and concise records of students' activities and progress.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, students, parents and the public.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with District staff to enhance the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in an environment where interruptions occur frequently and priorities are often modified, using a high degree of flexibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, assist in the review of assessment information, assess student needs and develop appropriate programs.
  • Provide varied instructional techniques and service delivery methods, emphasizing integration within the general education curriculum.
  • Work with students to implement and monitor IEPs (Individual Education Plans).
  • Consult and collaborate with parents, school staff and outside agency personnel regarding students' educational, motor and functional skill needs, their implications and means of helping.
  • Administer various forms of treatment involving, for example, hydrotherapy, whirlpool bath, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. (Physical Therapists)
  • Evaluate effects of treatment and modify as needed. (Physical Therapists)
  • Evaluate and record student progress; prepare reports.
  • Use computers and related technologies to support the instructional process.
  • Develop and maintain professional competency through in-service education, coursework or professional growth activities. Serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   Valid Teaching Certificate for the State of Washington with appropriate endorsement(s). Bachelor's degree in occupational or physical therapy; previous public school experience desirable.
EMPLOYMENT INFO / APPLY TO:  

Salary placement is based upon experience, degrees, post baccalaureate college credits and any additional factors outlined in the provision of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This salary is adjusted proportionately for less than full-time.Additional compensation for a Master or Doctorate is provided.

The job duties/responsibilities of this position have been identified as High Risk (reasonably anticipated to have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens).  Employees in this position are required to complete annual Bloodborne Pathogen (HIV/Hepatitis B) renewal training and are eligible to receive Hepatitis B immunizations paid for by Everett Public Schools.

 
SALARY:  Salary range for the 2008-2009 school year (Base plus TRI) is $41,145 to $79,802. Continuing and/or non-continuing contract(s) will be offered based on the District's needs.
