Job Description:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:    This position will be at various locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 
  • Knowledge of speech/language development.
  • Knowledge of teaching/training methods, curricula and strategies regarding communication disorders.
  • Skill in working with children, adult staff and other professionals.
  • Skill in using proper grammar and English in oral and written communications as well as the usage of correct spelling in written communications.
  • Skill in keyboarding, data entry and word processing.
  • Skill in exercising attention to detail and intense concentration.
  • Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment instrument.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, students, parents & the public.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism and diplomacy when dealing with the public and District staff.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with District staff to enhance the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in an atmosphere where interruptions occur frequently and priorities are often modified, using a high degree of flexibility.
  • Ability to exercise organizational skills, including those associated with recordkeeping and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Complete appropriate assessments on students referred to building teams.
  • Vary instructional techniques and service delivery to meet individual student classroom and building needs, emphasizing integration within the general education curriculum.
  • As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in the review of evaluative information for referred students.
  • Consult with building staff regarding instructional methods and student management techniques.
  • Work directly with students to implement IEP (Individual Education Plan) goals and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with building staff to develop, implement and monitor academic and behavioral intervention plans for students.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment for learning in a variety of school settings.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with the community, parents, administrators and school staff.
  • Maintain current and appropriate student data records.
  • Develop and maintain professional competency through in-service education, coursework or professional growth activities. Use computers and related technologies to support the instructional process.
  • Serve on staff committees as required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   Valid Washington State ESA (Educational Staff Associate) certification with appropriate endorsement(s). Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology; CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) from the ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) preferred; previous public school experience desirable.
EMPLOYMENT INFO / APPLY TO:  

Salary placement is based upon experience, degrees, post baccalaureate college credits and any additional factors outlined in the provision of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This salary is adjusted proportionately for less than full-time. Additional compensation for a Master or Doctorate is provided.

The job duties/responsibilities of this position have been identified as High Risk (reasonably anticipated to have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens).  Employees in this position (with the exception of Resource Room teachers) are required to complete annual Bloodborne Pathogen (HIV/Hepatitis B) renewal training and are eligible to receive Hepatitis B immunizations paid for by Everett Public Schools.

   
SALARY:  Salary range for the 2008-2009 school year (Base plus TRI) is $41,145 to $79,802. Continuing and/or non-continuing contract(s) will be offered based on the District's needs.
