Performs a variety of professional and technical duties involved in supporting the Agency’s GIS services including the maintenance and production of spatial data, and applications; supports many GIS analysis functions, supports Agency GIS users; and participates in Agency GIS projects including research and analysis, creating map products, and performing data updates.
The GIS Specialist is considered an expert in Geographic Information Systems working on projects of diverse scope and moderate to intermediate complexity.

• Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist services; provide data maintenance support; design and create maps to respond to unique project needs Agency-wide; conduct data analysis.
• Supports data maintenance, mapping, analysis, product development, and related activities; create and implement quality assurance/quality control standards; support and maintain GIS work plan; supervise project deadlines.
• Monitor and maintain monthly intergovernmental GIS analysis relating to address verification.
• Coordinate assigned projects with other Agency Departments and consultants; serve as direct contact for the GIS program area; schedule meetings with Agency GIS users to define project scope and assess user’s GIS needs; define and manage project scope/GIS needs.
• Support Agency’s Lead GIS Analyst and all ongoing GIS functions at the Agency.

Education and Experience - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in geography, transportation planning, urban planning, engineering, or in a field or discipline related to the assigned program area. GIS Certificate a plus.
Experience:
Two to three years of increasingly responsible GIS experience that includes experience in the transportation field.
