Line Cook - Cafeteria - Cherry Hill
This is a regular, hourly, 8 hour, day shift position, 1.00 FTE, 40 hours per week.

Salary Scale: Scale begins at $14.40. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience. The salary scale is reviewed on an annual basis for market comparison and may change with the market.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for preparing food products utilizing basic and advanced cooking techniques, standardized recipes and plating guidelines, meeting production schedules in accordance with health, safety, and sanitary procedures. Responsible for processing food items, ensuring proper utilization and storage of food and supplies and for maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work areas. Performs related tasks as required.
Must be able to take order directly from the customer and read, interpret and expedite customer orders in an organized and timely manner. Must be able to work under the pressure of stringent time constraints and remain calm and organized. Direct customer service and contact with customers in the retail areas is also a requirement of this position.
Qualifications
Basic high school education or general educational degree (GED).
Current State of Washington Food Handler Permit.
One year related food preparation experience is required. The related experience must be from a full service food service operation such as a hotel or restaurant where the majority of the products were prepared on the premises from fresh ingredients, or completion of one year related SMC Nutrition Services experience and satisfactory completion of a 30-hour competency based training program within a 90-day period. The competency training program must be completed before applying for a Line Cook position.
Must demonstrate competency in basic food production methods such as: slicing, cutting, shredding, grilling, frying and basic baking skills of pre-packaged and frozen products. Ability to accurately read, interpret, and implement standardized recipes. Must demonstrate the competency to safely and/or accurately operate a variety of commercial food service equipment, including, but not limited to: knives, slicer, thermometers, measuring utensils, scales, toaster, food warmer, chopper, mixer, blender, steamer, oven, microwave, grill and fryer.
Working knowledge of high-volume line cooking and safe food handling techniques. Ability to manage several tasks and set priorities in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language at an 8th grade level. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations using units of US currency, weight measurement, and volume. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, recipes and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
