About the Vice President of Marketing opportunity:
The new VP of Marketing will report to the company’s Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer advising on methodology while managing all marketing activities for the corporation. This role is the evangelizing force behind our market position, viewpoint and actions as the leading platform and service provider to the mobile industry. The successful candidate will optimize market actions among corporate divisions by integrating brand name usage and communications.
The primary mission and responsibility of the new VP Marketing will be to develop an industry leading corporate brand, sound marketing programs, product direction and positioning based on market analytics, successful public relations activities and strategies to develop an actionable and integrated marketing plan for the corporation, and carrier and consumer business units. VP Marketing will also participate in the strategic development planning and overall company stewardship.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Plans and directs all aspects of Motricity’s marketing policies, objectives, and initiatives.
· Identifies changes in the marketplace and evaluates, adjusts, or redrafts the organization's marketing plan and philosophy accordingly.
· Obtains and reviews current competitive market research data, and creates appropriate strategies/plans to maximize available opportunities.
· Creates and executes strategic branding/image/messages to the marketplace designed to position Motricity as the industry leader
· Creates both strategic and tactical marketing plans to achieve branding, positioning and other key marketing goals.
· Oversees the creation of corporate communications and collateral materials.
· Efficiently and effectively allocates, hires and develops human capital within the organization.
· Oversees global positioning within our markets and effectively addresses worldwide opportunities.
· Champions and leads the overall corporate marketing strategies.
· Oversees the integration and management of related personnel and outsourcing firms related to:
o Public Relations
o Public Affairs
o Advertising
o Branding
o Events
o Business Development
o Online Marketing
o Publishing
o Technical writing
o Sales
o Customer Service
· Oversees the pricing, packaging, placement and promotion of Motricity products and services in the marketplace, leading all product marketing efforts. Coordinates these efforts with the following internal organizations:
o Product Strategy
o Corp Development
o Business Development / partnership management
o Product Management
o Sales
· Oversees International marketing efforts, including pricing, packaging, placement and promotion of Motricity products as well as placement and promotion of the overall Motricity Company and brand. Coordinates these efforts with the following internal organizations:
o International leadership team
o International sales team
· Oversees the company’s community involvement and corporate stewardship initiatives, ensuring that Motricity is an active participant in the local community.
· Ensures that fact-based customer requirements are incorporated into the marketing strategy development process early and consistently.
· Identifies and analyzes new market opportunities; develops business and revenue models to support them.
· Possess a passion for working entrepreneurially – driving and scaling a business.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal Experience
The successful VP Marketing will be an innovative and seasoned executive with a proven record for managing marketing programs and public relations for at least a $100-$200 million enterprise or division.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following competencies/experience:
· Previous experience and success building Business-to-business technology products and brands
· Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
· Will have held the senior management position with total responsibilities for global marketing.
· Has previous success working in a scaling private company environment.
· Has experience taking a private company into the public market or has worked as a senior executive for a public corporation.
· An experienced start-up company executive who is able to blend a “sleeves up” style with appropriate delegation, and knowledge of when to act instinctually vs. completing more substantial analyses.
· The ideal candidate will have experience building both direct and indirect product and corporate marketing channels in the U.S. and internationally.
· An entrepreneurial individual with a successful track record in being the “thought leader” in fast-growth companies, in particular, in new markets.
· Has a proven understanding and track record of creating a leading corporate brand or product brand.
· Has experience in obtaining market data that leads to the development of a successful product roadmap.
· Prior technology focused Product Marketing experience
Critical Competencies
· Fifteen plus (15+) years related marketing experience, including five (5+) years experience in a senior executive marketing position in a national or multi-national entity serving as a leader driving global and complex marketing, communication, sales support, sales solution and strategic plans.
· A highly dynamic and charismatic person with prior experience in business development, sales, strategic planning to complement marketing.
· Demonstrates a passion for innovation in marketing and e-commerce and desires to create a genuine brand and fully grasp the psychology of consumers.
· Has demonstrated ability to develop strategic marketing plans inclusive of market opportunity assessment, competitive research and analysis and target audience definition with a proven track record of positive organizational impact.
· A person with a strong sense of self and the confidence of his/her convictions, who is also able to remain open to input from others. Decisive and action-oriented.
· An adept communicator who has the poise and skill to portray the company’s vision, strategy, and results to employees, customers and investors.

· The ideal candidate possesses an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing or Communications and may likely possess an MBA. The MBA itself is not critical, but provides further evidence of the global orientation and intellectual capacity of the individual we seek.
