JOB SUMMARY:
Provides assistance to providers, staff, and patients for the maintenance of ambulatory medical records. Maintains and facilitates the use of Pacific Medical Centers’ paper-based and electronic medical records. Consistently follows HIM policies and procedures and contributes to the efficiency of the clinic and health information services. Makes recommendations to improve HIM services.
REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months experience with medical records filing or equivalent education preferred.
• Knowledge of health information systems, terminal digit order numbering system, medical terminology, computer software, and database fundamentals.
• Experience with document or imaging systems preferred.
• 1+ years experience in customer service preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment based upon departmental policies and procedures.
• Comprehension of and adherence to patient confidentiality principles.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English to interact with staff and patients as well as external customers in a flexible and accommodating manner.
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
• Ability to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
