Security Officer - Security This is a regular, hourly, 4 hour, evening shift position, 0.50 FTE, 20 hours per week. This position is eligible for partial benefits. Salary Scale: Scale starts at $14.10. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience. The salary scale is reviewed on an annual basis for market comparison and may change with the market. Schedule: Mon. - Fri. 5pm - 9pm. |

Responsibilities |
|
The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for the patients, visitors, staff and property of Swedish Medical Center. Due to the continuous public contact of the position the highest level of customer service skills is essential. Security Officers conduct random patrols of Swedish Medical Center property, respond to and investigate security incidents, report safety hazards, and appropriately document actions and observations made during the shift. Security Officers respond to alarms and codes. Security Officers routinely engage in stressful situations and at times may be required to use physical force to maintain the safety of the patient care environment, and also may be required to run, climb stairs, carry people, or perform other physical acts in response to emergent situations. Security Officers also engage in a wide range of customer service activities involving direct contact with patients and visitors, providing directions and helping people find their way. Security Officers regularly use computers to write reports and logs and to monitor security cameras and access control systems. Will be required to work on multiple campuses based on staffing needs. When working as a relief lead, the Security Officer acts as a resource person and leads the shift. The relief lead, when actually working a shift as a lead, has all of the authority and responsibilities of a Lead Security Officer. |

Qualifications |

High School Diploma or GED required. AA or equivalent preferred. Valid Washington State Driver’s license with insurable driving record as determined by Swedish Medical Center’s insurance provider. Basic Security Officer Certification through International Association of Healthcare Security and required within 9 months of employment. Certified in CPR or completion within 30 days of hire. At least three months related security or customer service experience and/or training required, six plus months preferred. Basic computer skills required. Ability to collect, organize and write information. Able to communicate clearly and efficiently. Must be detail-oriented and observant. Able to control crowds and act with authority during security situations. Able to physically respond to security calls, to rapidly assess a situation and quickly decide on a course of action. Able to solve problems with sound judgment, evaluating each situation on individual merit, react accordingly and provide appropriate verbal or written documentation of those actions. No record of felony convictions. |
