Job Summary: 

 

This position will be have a heavy emphasis on AVAYA PBX design, installation, and maintenance.  Performs a wide range of technical duties assisting with the implementation and support of the CHI local voice networks and services.










 







Essential Duties:
























  • Leads tasks associated with evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion for PBX, voice mail, conference bridging and other voice/data technologies (e.g., VoIP.)


  • Strong Avaya experience required



  • Leads development of voice network architecture



  • Participates in enterprise architecture teams and CHI-wide architecture planning and integration



  • Analyzes service portfolio, network usage and network performance to optimize services and track adherence to SLAs.



  • Performs network operations (proactive and reactive) through use of software/hardware diagnostic tools, problem diagnosing and network recovery process.



  • Develops, creates, and maintains current management databases, network device configurations, circuit information and operations network diagrams for network infrastructure including the development of database requirements, and establishment of data file backups.



  • Provides statistics of network performance



  • Leads in collaborative development of technology solutions.



  • Supports end users for effective use of telecom technology - provides level3 voice support



  • Develops process to inventory all telecommunication equipment; performs periodic inventory audits / reviews; maintains network circuit inventory.



  • Leads analysis and procurement of products/services to meet business requirements; resolves issues as necessary initially and on an ongoing basis.



  • Will require some on-call coverage responsibilities



























Qualifications


 
Education:




















  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related technical field required.  



































  • May substitute an equivalent combination of education and experience.


















Experience:













  • 5+ years of experience in Voice infrastructure design, operations and maintenance required.


  • Strong Avaya experience required.



  • 7+ years of total IT/network experience required.



  • Strong understanding of telecom requirements, SLA, and standards



  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with a variety of audience types.



  • Ability to develop business cases for all voice network solutions.



  • Strong architecture development skills



  • Strong knowledge of vendor voice products and services

























Additional Responsibilities:














  • Maintains close working relationships with suppliers and vendors to effectively represent the business requirements of CHI. 



  • Provides technical input to vendor negotiations to ensure cost effective services are delivered to the organization.



  • Works with service level management (Client and Vendor) to establish voice network SLA targets and ensure their achievement



  • Identify voice improvement projects and coordinate with IT performance function



  • Some Level III's will participate in enterprise architecture teams
