Your Responsibilities:
As Senior Embedded Software Designer for high-volume consumer medical devices you will architect, plan, design, documents, develop, implement and test high quality embedded software on multiple platforms across multiple product ranges. It includes:
• Embedded software development in the C and assembly programming languages on 8-bit micro-controllers.
• Manage the work of external partners (including off-shore teams) in software development, including test and task level activities.
• System-level analysis and design of new products and product interfaces.
• Specification and preliminary design of new systems and analysis of existing system interfaces with new technologies.
• Write software requirements, design docs, verification procedures, test reports, and interface documents;
• Review requirements, UI specifications, verification protocols, etc;
• Coach other team members and mentor lower-level engineers.
• Work according to quality management system;
• Write efficient code to ensure optimum embedded resource usage for performance and cost.
• Member of project teams in Function Creation and Product Creation projects
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and FMEA.
• Use SW Development tools effectively, may administer those tools.
• Know, understand, and advance the Innovation-to-Market process.
• Lead small improvement teams.
Your Profile:
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years (peferably 10+ years) experience in embedded software development in a professional organization, preferably in a high volume, Medical Device environment.
• Experience in defining, designing, and implementing embedded firmware for 8-bit or 16-bit microcontrollers using C and assembly language (including integration with target hardware).
• Expert level of understanding in firmware architecture, design and implementation in C and assembly language, with and without RTOS.
• Hands-on knowledge of 8-bit micro-controllers, power supplies, and analog interfaces is expected.
• Able to use tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, IDE’s and emulators for debug and test
• Working knowledge of software documentation, verification and validation requirements in a regulated product design environment (FDA strongly preferred).
• Communications Protocol experience.
• Working knowledge of lower-level device drivers is a strong plus.
• Candidate should have demonstrated technical leadership skills in a multi-discipline engineering project environment.
• Understanding of board and system-level technologies and the ability to read, interpret and review analog and digital circuit schematics.
• Experience with software multi-site development
• Awareness of multiple software development methodologies (waterfall vs. Agile, etc.)
