The Operations Specialist would also be part of a company wide Operations Services Team and may provide support on company-wide assignments for other offices. Operations Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities
Assignments, duties, and responsibilities may include the following:
· Directing and performing the development of operations and maintenance manuals including preparation of electronic or computer based manuals and development of operating and maintenance procedures and descriptions.
· Developing and conducting classroom, field, and electronic training on facilities, equipment, and system operation and maintenance to operators, maintenance technicians, and other technical, administrative, and managerial staff.
· Planning, directing, monitoring, performance testing and start-up of new facilities, processes, and equipment systems to expedite completion and to ensure operability and readiness for client acceptance.
· Commission new facilities by conducting and directing the operation and maintenance to optimize the operation and efficiency of the facilities and to support the transition to client ownership and operation.
· Troubleshooting and optimizing existing equipment and processes to resolve and improve plant and system operations.
· Participation in evaluation, assessment, and improvement of utility organizations including identifying staffing and workload needs, as well as operations and maintenance budgeting.
· Participation and leading the documentation, evaluation, and assessment of existing facilities, equipment, and systems for asset identification, condition assessment, facility improvements, and maintenance requirements.
· Marketing operations services with existing and new clients including client interaction, proposal development, and scope of work preparation.
Qualifications
Candidate will have:
· Minimum 10 years experience in the operation, maintenance and/ or management of water and wastewater facilities including treatment plants and distribution and collection systems.
· Minimum certification level III as an operator in water or wastewater treatment and/or collection or distribution system operation at the highest grade appropriate to home state or national certification.
· AS degree or equivalent in engineering, biology, chemistry or similar related field or equivalent experience.
· Extensive knowledge of treatment plant and/or system operation and maintenance including chemical and biological processes, equipment operation and maintenance, hydraulics, control systems, sampling and testing, and permit requirements.
· Proven technical writing skills and experience.
· Experience and skilled using standard computer software such as Word and Excel.
· Experience with computer based information systems such as on-line operations manuals, computerized maintenance management systems, and SCADA controls.
· Knowledge and understanding of detailed operation and maintenance requirements and procedures and ability to compile and develop operation and maintenance information from multiple sources such as design plans, controls descriptions, and equipment manuals.
· Experience in operations administration and management including staffing and organization, operator and maintenance staff job requirements and skills, operating and maintenance budgets and costs, and work organization and scheduling.
· Demonstrated ability to interact and build positive relationships with clients including operators, maintenance technicians, chemists, and managers.
· Experience and skills to develop and conduct effective training programs including classroom training and training materials, and hands-on and field training.
